I would appreciate anyone’s input into this matter Funny Thing...I went out to shop for new media and happened to read the fine print on the back of a TDK DVD-r case. It says not to play there DVD r's on any unit but the one that produced it.....Warning that when that skipping occurs...which it did for me....the over exertion of the laser trying to read the disk will cause the laser lens to "fog", damaging its performance and even rendering the DVD player useless. I find this disturbing considering my player now has trouble reading a new original movie after my , freezing and skipping and so on. My last post I described how after I would backup a movie. It would run perfect 2-4 viewings then start to skip at certain chapters in the movie. This skipping would then happen more often in other chapters and even other movies that previously would run flawless. Gunna pawn of my burning to put towards a new DVD player and pop my good'ol CD-RW back in. Thanks for taking the time to read this thread!!! Running Dell P4 2.6ghz 1000 megs Rambus LG Supermulti 4X with latest firmware Using E3 dvd-r media with silver burn surface. I now understand that I should purchase higher quality media.... Guess the question I am asking is.... Has anyone else read about or experienced this reaction to there Stand alone players. Does this really occur when media fails (skips) and the player struggles to read the disk? Flip218 wuz kind enough to give me some cleaning suggestions but I ran a lens cleaner and Gas dust my dvd. When I reflect light off it, the surfaces is clean and flawless!
I have a problem where my dvd's will play flawlessly on all of my players except my main one in the living room? Some will play perfectly in there while some will freeze and stutter and digital squares and slide show!??!? Not sure what is the problem. The originals play perfectly.
Yah…now where talking. That’s exactly what happens to me. Only thing that gets me is that now my DVD ROM is skipping where it otherwise would read all my Backups. It seems as thou it's degenerative. Once all my backups would work on my second stand alone DVD player where as nothing would run on my Older Kenwood 5 disk. Now my newer player and DVD ROM are prone to these symptoms. The more back ups I watch the more frequent these errors happen.
Sounds like a media problem to me. What media are u using? I had the same problem with Memorex, not so much with TDK(just sporadically), I gotta say, once I went to Ritek G04's and verbatim the problem has completely diappeared. coincidence?........ _X_X_X_X_X_[small] [bold]GO VOLS![/bold]........Dell Media4600, XP home,Pentium 4 @2.80GHz/800Mz, 512MB, 280 HD w/8MB, 17" flat panel, AIO-A920, 8x DVD-ROM, integrated 5.1 audio, HP dc4000, Plextor PX-708UF[/small]
Using LG 4040b Supermulti with latest firmware. E# DVD - R's - Silver burning surface. Hitachti DVD ROM/Kewood 5 disk(Older/wont play any backups) and basic JVC single DVD player. THings would work on JVC but skip way to much now. Could the crapy media damaged my players?
RRRRRRRRRRR is e3Works 25-Pack 1X-4X 4.7GB DVD- Not cheap but i buy spindles when future shop puts them on sale. $59.99 Canadian (reg Price)
When i played my back-ups in my cheap $100 Sony, no problem, when i put them in my $500 Onkyo DVD changer it would skip to the next dvd, when it would read them, it would freeze, skip, lose it all together and go to the next dvd. Since I changed to the aforementioned media, no problems. I know the cheaper players play with fewer problems(go figure), I have heard of players getting screwed up like you said, but no personal experience on that matter, so yes, I think bad media can screw it up, sorry. _X_X_X_X_X_[small] [bold]GO VOLS![/bold]........Dell Media4600, XP home,Pentium 4 @2.80GHz/800Mz, 512MB, 280 HD w/8MB, 17" flat panel, AIO-A920, 8x DVD-ROM, integrated 5.1 audio, HP dc4000, Plextor PX-708UF[/small]

BetaZeta, little rough on BuckHuck. Most links run through that pop up. Just click "skip" in upper right,it will take you to blankcd. After you click "skip" everytime you click that link, it should take you straight there. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Dell 8250, Pentium 4 2.80GHz 1.5 GB RDRAM, 200GB HD TDK 840G, Sony DDU-1612 DVD-ROM XP Pro, ATI All-In-Wonder 9000 Pro Gateway 450, Pentium III 450MHz 384 MB SDRAM, 160GB HD NEC 2100A, LiteOn LTD-163 DVD-ROM XP Home, 16MB nVidia RIVA TNT[/small]
I use the cheap stuff. The liquidfilm wouldnt read at all on the JVC in the living room. I thought I wrangled the problem when I switched to fujifilm. It played on all my DVD players. The wierd thing is, some of the fujifilm works on the JVC and some stutter as I have talked about??? If it were media, wouldnt they all be bad? I have a Toshiba tv in my bedroom with a built in dvd player and it played all of the dvd's perfectly??? It dont add up.
Flip 218 got a little hot there cause when you type that link into explorer it sends you to internic.ca some crappy ad site that wants you to homepage it. I just got Punked!
Yea, I tried clicking that link... got a bunch of ballons saying Im 10,000 or so to hit site. Just clicked skip. But bottom line I would use Meritline
Hey flip, long time no see, I tried that link too, I couldn't even get my server to find it.
