One of my friends bought the new iPhone 4...and the screen is all yellow. After a few "I told you so"'s about buying something on release day, I tried to find a fix. We installed iTunes for the update...and that seemed to fix some of the problem, but the yellow splotches are still there, and whites still are still slightly yellow on the rest of the screen. I can't seem to find any explanation for the yellow over the whole screen, and the only information on the splotches is that someone seems to think it has to do with the glue not drying or something. Would it help to leave the screen on for a day or two? If not, anyone got a fix for the splotches? Also, is there a fix for the yellowness of the whites, or is this how apple wants the screen to look? Could it be that all the glue is slightly wet, and slight yellow is just a thinner layer than the darker splotches? If so, how long does this glue take to dry? Also, the store he bought from had no screen protectors. They told him that the phone has gorilla glass like the Motorola Droid, and thus does not need protection. Is this true, or was the salesman just covering up for a lack of supply? I know they make screen protectors for this phone...I just don't know if they are a scam like the screen protectors for the droid.
Well this is an old topic but im surprised no one had anything to say about it. I would hope your friend traded his phone in for a new one. Because what you described was a defect "one i've never even heard of by the way" But as fas as the screen goes "pretecting it" yes you do need protection. The front and back are both glass, and unless you are the most carefull person in the world, you need a good case. The screen will crack if dropped on the corner, and it can be scratched if you carry it in your pocket with keys or such items. I would suggest getting the new iphone 4 otterbox defender.
