I never had a problem with backups until about a month ago I switched from TY to reitek (because they were 1/3 the cost) But not about 30% of the discs are f'd up... anyone know how to test the copies before you play them

I use clone and any dvd both up to date

Well I'd switch back to TY! If in the us try this site for ty's:http://supermediastore.com. Ritek is a little cheaper but TY is around .30 - .40 a disc.
You can also try lowering your burn speed on these and make sure your drives firmware is up to date.

Look for the free version with adverts. I use the PI/PO scanning test.

If you have a lite-on burner, google for the K-Probe utility.

Plextools may also have a scanning test if you have a plextor burner.

Another good way to test them out,try re-ripping those backups. Just rip them like a normal original dvd to your hard drive. If they do have too many errors or errors in the wrong spots, then you'll get crc errors. You don't have to go through with the burn, just try to rip them to your hard drive again.

What's your burner brand name and model#?

What format are you burning to?

How exactly are those riteks F'd up? Stand alone player or dvd burner issues?

    Hi there,

I always say, you get what you pay for :)

I don't look at the price, I buy Taiyo Yuden period !

To check my burns, I also use

    VSO Inspector v1.1
    Nero CD-DVD Speed v4.11
    DvdInfoPro

    Good Luck !
