I have lifted on and off since high school. I played football, and got my 6'1" frame to 215 in high school. I have been a member of several gyms over the years, but the last few years have left me without enough time, and living far enough out in the country (the suburbs keep growing and I keep moving further from the city) to make a gym nearly impossible. 45 minutes to get to my last gym and 30 minutes from the next closest. Anyways, do you lift? If so what is your rig, or do you prefer machines/free/aerobic-cardio at the gym? Do you lift for flexibility, strength, endurance or weight loss? Maybe someone can share tips, or exercises they have found effecive. I have finally taken the plunge and bought myself a new piece of equipment so I can lift at home. I tell you, the power rods certainly present a differant resistance, and the workout is terribly exhausting, but after 2 weeks the effects are becoming visibly apparent. I bought a Bowflex Ultimate XTLU. The thing is HUGE, and the pictures you see on TV and in print don't even come close to showing it's size. About 7 feet tall, 4 feet wide, and 9 feet long with the leg station attatched. My goal is a combination of power and endurance, and I toss my routine from power training (heavy weights/light reps/light sets) every other week to endurance training (light weights/big reps/big sets) on the alternate. My new rig:
