I have found firmwares that will convert ND1100A drives to the ND1300, and wonder if anyone here has used it, and what the results were. Your supposed to be able to read both + and -R discs (According to etna) My HP 300n will copy original movies and games just fine, but it cannot read any DVD+R brand I've tried so far. Doesn't even recognize them. Also, is flashing a fairly simple thing to do? I have downloaded the bootdisc, and the firmware, but just want to be sure before I commit to anything.
If your burner is a 300n or such (oem of nec 1100A) make sure you get the right firmware for your drive its quite simple to do, in win xp you need to make a boot disc and load the bin file onto that i think. One thing i would recommend, if your paranoid, is unplug any other optical drives before you flash (then you cant flash wrong one) The only time it becomes a head f*** is when the burner is hooked up externally through usb/firewire (dos wont see it) Im still searching for a way to turn my 300e (300n firmware) into a 1100A through USB, dont think im gonna have much luck.
My 300n is an internal drive, and I have nothing externally hooked up to this pc. I have the right firmware, and I've also downloaded the boot disc. What exactly do I do with it? I put them both on a floppy, but I'm not totally sure what to do with them. If the firmware is supposed to be put into the boot program a certain way, how do you do that? Does the program work automatically when you restart the pc with the disc in? or do I need to manually run it?
Can you tell me how to flash my hp 300n I have the fw just not sure how to do it. I have nec1100a.exe as well as n108v2e1.bin I am running Win XP.
No, if I knew how to flash my firmware, I wouldn't have started this thread, which is what you should have done.
its pretty simple boot the disc in dos, or if it wont boot automatically try runing one of main .exe or .bin or wateva there is on the disk
