Ok Guys here is the answer to my own question, Us DVD Decrytor, and burn at x1 the backup now loads, it seems that a rebuild with this backup does not seem to work, you just get the Secom 3 Screen and then it stops.

    hope this helps

Somebody claims they've found a method to make Socom 3 backup go online here -
    http://www.ps2nfo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82

But that page required a registration with an ISP based E-mail provider.

    :(

BUT, i heard 3rd party game hosters don't check for DNAS authorization, in fact, i'm sure :) when of them is http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/

i haven't tried it yet..need to get some crossover cables to set up a network with the ps2 and the PC.

Xlink is the only way to go...it is and has been the only way to play GT4 online, just used your LAN ps2 to ps2 setiings, but routes the LAN across the net, but your PS2 doesn't know that. Some games experience horrible lag, and good connections are a must. The anti-lag software in some LAN online programming is compensation and expecting like 1ms of lag...bu getting 20-100....some games handle it likes shit, and some play great.

I tried extracting the DNAS300 with WinImage and patching it with dnas_id, then injecting it and that didn't work either (it injects succesfully, but I get the 'cheat device detected' error.

Offline games seem to work just fine.

Oh yeah, while looking through the ISO with WinImage, I seen a couple folders labeled HDD, anyone know of any HDD compatability? I'm too busy to search right now, or else I'd do it.

Is a credit card number required for EVERY game? I went to join a game for the first time and I got the 'verify account' message. I even tried different briefing rooms and couldn't get into even one game. I then went to quick join, cancelled out, then I was able to join any server and any game. I remember playing Black Hawk Down and some people said it was just for clans, and some people said it's every single game, so I have not a clue lol.

Not really sure. EA added some account verification check recently, which I believe makes it impossible to get online with EA backups. As far as Socom's CC check, maybe that serves the same purpose, unless of course you have the original.

Yes I have the original. It's pretty fun so far. I'm not sure if this is considered a workaround or not, I'm gonna PM someone at PS2NFO and see what they know about it.

Yeah that's a good idea. I didn't mean it like that, I could care less who has their originals.

Are the circled portions dummy files? if so would i remove all of them?

Doesn't look like dummy files. Usually they'd be dummy.dat, when you see the iso has dummy files.i.e 00DUMMY. 01DUMMY. GARBAGE ETC

I wasn't sure, i've heard of dummy files, but i never encountered one. I just thought because of the similiar name and size and my lack of experience with dummy files that that is what they were.

I don't know if this will help anyone but i was able to get past the dnas authentication with a backup disk. However, once I joined a briefing room I got a message saying I was using a cheating device. It said something like this is the first time you have been caught... any more attempts at cheating will get your account banned from the socom 3 servers. I tried again using the cd loader and got the message saying i was caught twice and was banned for 1 hour. Is there a way for them to look for something on the disk before they allow you into a briefing room?

Your patched DNA's will get you past the check, but that's about it. If you keep this up, your console will be banned and you won't be able to play online at all. There's a big difference in getting IP banned and console ID banned.
