I just wanted to say Hi to everyone and start a friendly little thread. I know I haven't wrote to much in here lately, but I have actually been here almost everyday just browsing around and reading everyones posts. The truth is there really isn't much to say here anymore because everyone is helping out so much. I just wanted to say you are all doing an outstanding job and mention a few people I have noticed really helping out a lot here at AD. I might miss a few people and if I do I am sorry that is not my intentions I just wanted to say that your time and effort given here at AD is noticed and appreciated by all. Creaky - What can I say the Nero log file King!! Car.Mike - Your patience and kindness it beyon reproach Arniebear - You all over helping everyone and your bear is cool Mort81 - Your knowledge and memory are one of the best! Suagmon - What can I say about you brother I don't believe I have ever saw your pace slow down at helping others and the frog is the bomb! kivory666 - I have seen you grow from being a newbie to being one of the best authorities on DVD media. aabbccdd - Another old timer that still keeps comming on strong. I also like the links you provide to people in need ;-) LOL Binkie7 - My how you have growin Rotary - A wealth of knowledge especially in the video authoring world Lets not forget the great Mods Neph, Darthnip, and Flip I am sure I have forgot someone and I am sorry if I have. There was also a simular thread to this just recently and that is kind of what drove me to start this one I guess I am just trying to say all of your hard work, dedication to helping others, and kindness is truly appreciated and is what keeps me comming back to AD. Again I just wanted to say thanks to you all myself and of course the biggest thanks go to DrD for making such a great place!! Cheers, Brent Well one of the main reasons I haven't been around to much is because I have been living in Kuwait for about a month now and I am just now finally getting into the swing of things around here. So I will try to help out a little more now whenever I can ;-)
why thank you kind sir. what can i say, i will probably get RSI from googling for "dma bbmayo" and pasting it into never-ending threads. You're one of the legends here that will always 'be' Afterdawn, even when you're not seen here for ages. When i first came here, i used to see your replies non-stop, along with the other long-termers (they know who they are) and think 'how do these guys keep up with all the threads/replies', and now i've been here a little while, i see how 'cus i'm doing that too!, it just creeps up i guess, we just get drawn into it. My knees aren't thanking me for the time i spend on the PC but it keeps the grey cells busy, as do the silly debates that crop up from time to time. But i have the guys you mentioned and more besides to fall back on for help/muscle and that's obviously one of the things that keeps me coming back too. Am trying to make the Nero logs a little more interesting with "splat" and "that firmware's out of the bible" and one of my faves is "that's the most atrocious media money can buy, and you bought it". Anyway, let's just hope that the proposed change in Finnish law doesn't diminish this great site.
@bbmayo Thanks to your's and scubapete's guide and this site I have certainly learned alot! So thank you both for your wealth of knowledge and spending the time to do those great guides!! Members like you and the ones you mentioned keep me here and make this a great site. Glad to have you back from Kuwait. @Creaky Thanks for your help on those Nero logs - much appreciated !
thank you, bbmayo, for helping to pave the way. and thank you everyone else for keeping everything going. i may not know much, but all my knowledge comes from you.
I am very thankful for everyone here at AD, I learn something everyday here. Before I even bought a dvd burner I lurked around here for 2 months reading hundreds of threads. So when I did buy my burner my system would be ready. With over a thousand burns and zero coasters I owe all the mods, addicts, and senior members a big thank you. peace
ive noticed the xbox section is going downhill just full of newbies trying to find out how to fix an xbox dashboard theres like 50 different threads about it.i have that problem and im currently waiting for the ms dashfile.if newbies actually bother to read the threads they wouldnt have to post new ones.
xboxdevil may I ask what that had to do with this thread? I'm just curious you kind of lost me on that one...
thank you bbmayo for your kind words, YOU were my very 1st mentor here when i joined AD awhile back, YOU were the one that offered me advice when i was a newbie trying to get things to work so for all your help to me, i am only trying to make you proud by offering/giving BACK to AD since you've helped me so much in the past. since then, i suppose i've "blossomed" a bit and am now regularly referred to as docTY~ (ddp gave me this name btw, and it's just stuck) my experience with various medias spans from the "utter rubbish" as creaky calls it, to the great Taiyo Yudens that i tout off anytime i can when assisting w/ media problems and everything in between, since i've been burning w/ GOOD QUALITY media, i have only made 3 coasters TOTAL, and this is out of about 3,000+ burns now, pretty decent ratio if you ask me these were self-inflicted naturally as i HAD to test some TYs and Verbs @max 16x speed~ LOL but, anyways, before i rant on MORE about media, THANK YOU bbmayo for all the contributions you have made to AD and i would also like to thank everyone else that knows me (the "regulars" as per your list bbmayo) that have helped ME grow along the way, i commend each of you for your patience, persistence, and wealth of knowledge~ so, from a "student" to his "teacher", THANK YOU bbmayo, i wish you and your family ONLY THE VERY BEST, no matter WHERE you are in the world~ God Bless~ docTY~
Thank you for those kind words Doc, but you didn't need much mentoring just a gentle shove in the right direction was all Weazel, I am actually living and working here in Kuwait with a company called Stanley Associates. It's a 1 year contract and I just completed one month so I still have 11 to go :-( As most of you know I retired from the Army back in Jan and have now accepted this job over here as a network administrator. Let's just say the money was to good to pass up It really isn't all that bad here either they have just about anything I could find in the USA so all in all it's OK and I am hoping the time flys by because I do miss my family already. Thanks for the concern guys/gals, but everything is going good here. Later
Wow first time to say but I am in iraq and bbmayo is in kuwait!!! I'm happy to see bbmayo is still able to come back to a site which he lends alot of credible and ingenius info made simple. Good luck to you and thanks for being a great contributor to those such as myself who are learning and hoping one day to give back to AD as you have.
