hi - i been having some weird issues with dvds lately - i found this new ripper called dvdclad and it worked on a movie that nothing else worked with - not even dvdfab - ok but then i used it for another movie and it went to my hard drive - when i try to open the file with shrink it wont open - gives me a error on a vts_05 etc. not sure what it says but cant do anything - i went to use dvdclone 2 and it says it copy protected with APS ? what is that ? says to search the internet for removal tools
does anyone know about this and how to remove it from the movie on my hard drive - its very strange since this is not a new movie - really shouldnt be so hard to copy - ? any help

    thanks

Easy enough. Load dvd43...which is free and can be found on this site. Make sure its running in the tray. You will see it turn into a devil and then a green guy if its copy protected. Then load up dvd decrypter. Run it through decryptor while dvd43 is running. Should work. This combo has been working for everything including sony protection.

If all else fails buy anydvd...have it running in the tray while ya run dvd decryptor.

Doubt you will have to though.

hi - thanks - i have tried that already - first off dvd43 hasnt worked for me in the past so i uninstalled - i dont know why it didnt work for me - decrypter didnt work either - and shrink wont even open it -
i just installed anydvd and then i tried it with shrink to test it - and it went ok till i had to encode it to the hard drive - then it stoped at 3% -- so i had to kill that job - now i am using claddvd which is working - it stopped at about 2% and searching for keys - then started again - the weird thing is - i had already used claddvd with this movie and its on my hard drive now - but when i went to shrink to open it - it gave me a error ? so i have the movie and i cant burn it - i am trying it again - maybe had a small glitch before - - i went to use clone dvd 2 to process the file to burn thats already on my hard drive and it gave me a message saying it APS protected - ? i dont get it - i ripped it to my hard drive and its still protected ? driving me crazy - i really dont care for this movie that much - its a old movie - nothing special but now i am curious to figure out how to get by this protection -

    thanks for any help

thanks -- i finally got it on my hard drive a second time - but the weird thing is that shrink cant open it - says something is missing -
when i open the folder -- i can play it and the video files are there - so i dont know what i cant use shrink - what i did it joined the main video files together to make one video file with nero and then used shrink to get rid of the menu and have it now - but i just noticed -- theres no sound from the middle of the movie to the end - dont know why - the video files i joined have the sound ? i try it again - its no big deal to have this movie - just curious to find out why this happened with a old movie - oh and by the way - i had anydvd running and it didnt help to rip this movie - its called - never been kissed

    thanks

i dont have a clue as to what happened. All i can say is im gonna get a copy and if i break it for you...i will load into my website for download. I will pm you in a day or two....no charge for this. I just happen to love the challenge.

One guess is that the file dvd shrink said was missing was the sound you were describing. Just hold out for a few days.

hey thanks - i copy i had was scratched so i belieave that had a big part in the problem - either way - i finally got the movie on my computer with clad dvd - but shrink cant open it - says something is missing with vob_5 etc. - so i tried it with clonedvd 2 and first it gave the aps protection error - which i though once its ripped to the computer - it cant be protected anymore ? - so i ripped it again with clad dvd - then when i used clonedvd 2 -- it didnt give me the aps error but a different one - something wasnt in order maybe - i dont know -
so i checked the folder and i played the video files and they all worked
only 4 were for the movie - so i figure i join them together with nero express and make one video file - i did it and then shrink worked and i backed it up again with no menus from nero expresso - so i though that was it - i burned it to disk just to find out after that there was no sound after the first half of the movie - so i checked the video files i joined and they all have sound - i lost the sound during the joining process with nero express -- thats the only think i can think of - i will try to join them again - this time - i check it before i burn it to disk - i was 100% sure that it was ok -
    sometimes you never know :)

    thanks - any ideas -

@expresso, first off its against forum rules to multipost questions. You should have continued this on the other thread. It is my opinion you may have too many different types of software going or are doing too many steps. All you need is Clonedvd 2 and Anydvd running behind it and you shouldn't have any problems with and DVD presently out there. This is true only if your original is in good shape. You claim your one copy is scratched. If bad enough it will cause many programs to error out. It would also account for the missing file error you got at one point. Your making this much harder than it is but don't seem to listen to suggestions. If you want to keep doing it the hard way the choice is yours.

    Jerry
