    Hi There,
I have read that some manufacturers lock their DVD Players/Recorders to 2x!? How do i know if mine are locked to 2x?? I have an Asus 16x DVD Reader and a Pioneer 106 Burner.

    Cheers

You can download a freeware app called DVD Info Pro that can test the read speeds of your drives along with a whole slew of other DVD-related info.

I'm not in the U.K. but search for the Lite On LTD-165/166 - they go for a little over $30 here in the States. My read speeds start out at 5X and ramp up to 12X on a single layer disc with a total read time of just over six minutes.
