I usually have to rely on best Buy to get Verbatims on sale. They don't have a sale this week. I see office depot has a 100 pack spindle of their store brand on sale. Are these any good?

    Plus or Dash format?

I don't know about the OD dash, but their Plus format +8x and +16x are very good. Ritek or Ricohjpn are their manufacturers.Even their full hub inkjet printables are riteks. I'll rate them along with Sony, all very decent media and if you get them under 20 cents each, grab em up.

They are so good,I just picked up the last 6 100 pk spindles of +16x in my closest OD. Their black friday sale, they were $18 per 100 pk tub. Sometimes they run a buy 1,get 1 free,or a buy 1,get 2 free deal.

Office Depot's brand name media is the only store brand named media that I recommend. Staple's brand, don't even bother.

OD dash format, most likely ritek media as well?

Edit: Their +RW media is also very good, Ricohjpn is their manufacturer.

Thanks for the replies. I was leaning towards dash, but if you say plus is better. I will get those.

DVD+R is better in a sense if your going to booktype them to DVD-Rom if your Burner allows this ! if not Then buy whichever you like best the prices are the same !

Best format depends on your drive. Example: Booktyping drives like benq,plextor,lg,liteon- Highly favor the plus format-booktyping purposes for higher stand alone compatability.

Other drives like pioneer,NEC, The dash format should perform better.

I still use the dash format for my Watershields and Shiny inkjet printable media, which can only be found on the web. This media in the plus format may not exist or the cost is a lot more than the dash.

Don't go to the Lima, Oh office depot store. I took their remaining stock, LOL.

The last OD dash disks I picked up were Riteks, very good disks in my experience, like the "Dancing green booger" and the Noble Lord of Swamp Gas" say.

The OfficeDepot brand actually uses some very good manufacturers most of time like Ritek and Ricoh.

Just check the Dyes with NeroDiscSpeed or ImgBurn and make sure their decent quality.

Last OD brand disc's i picked up were also RITEK. And on another note, i also have found buying the +R and booktyping it to DVD-ROM is the way to go if your drive allows it.

    Happy burning!

    You're pretty safe at 4x or 6x.

Although the rule of thumb is normally half the speed of the disc.

With the +16x OD,no problems at 8x on my Benqs. On my Plextor,I like the 6x speed.

I'm still going through some of my 8x OFFICEDEPOTS Blanks and depending on the way I'm burning I'll burn them @ 8x if it's a one off copy ( one disc at a time ) and 4x if I'm doing a Simultaneous Burn ( more than 1 copy at a time ) I've mainly used the OD 8x DVD-R's ( Ritek G-05's for this so far and it has seemed to work the few times I've tried it !

I burn all DVD's, whether they're 8x, 16x discs, single or multiple recorder burns, whether they're internal burners or external (ie USB2.0), -R or +R, or combinations of any of the above, at 8x.

I just opened up the 1st spindle of the 5 I bought sunday. This is a Ricohjpn-R03-004 spindle. 1st OD Ricoh's that I've gotten in a while. Still great media. Burning these at 8x on my old Benq 1620 and no problemo.
