I was quite surprised because wal-mart generally had crappy media for quite awhile, they started carrying these I was expecting them to be memorex fakes like the maxell and other brands I had picked up (which all had same media code as memorex) however the sony media code on these matched up to the top class media code for sony on the list here, and got a 50 pack for nearly dirt cheap they were on sale so low, like 14 bucks...

I use this media (burned as DVD-ROM at 4X in my LG DVD burner) and they work perfectly in my PSTwo v14.

If they are made in Japan then they should be good.
But i would not trust the one's made in Taiwan
and only 8X speed, never 16X

well A) it should say on the label somewhere.

But B, stick it in dvd decrypter in ISO-Write mode. On the panel to the right, somewhere in all that it should give the media code. Look at the "best media for gods sake" sticky here and try to match up the codes, that should also tell you if it's good or a fake.

Honestly though like I said I was quite surprised wal-mart was starting to carry class one media that cheap, take back the bad things I've said about 'em. ^^

It will be on the label. It will say where they are made.
The method above is also a good one. You can check the media code against a media guide.
so how much were the 50 packs at Wal-Mart? I know best buy had them on sale this weekend but when i went there and looked at them they were made in Taiwan so i skipped them and headed to Circuit City to buy my usual Philips DVD's
I know you can order the very best media there is, Taiyo Yuden, online and get a 100 pack for $37.99 at Supermediastore.com
