I just ordered some of these from supermediastore, are they reliable? My Mad Dog burner seems to burn whatever I put on it, anyone have any comments over this media? It's the Ritek 4x Inkjet Printable with Arita Logo in the Hub 200. Let me know if you know anything concerning this type of media.
I made the mistake of ordering 500 of those arita branded inkjet printables from supermedia store.I hope you have better luck than I had, evey spindle of mine were garbage the dye side had streaks and the ones without streaks had deep scrathes from the hub to the edge of the disk.Arita must be ritek's reject disc.I have bought the ritek ridata branded disc and they are quality disc. Hope that helps.
@wcalifas hi Ritek Corps own branded media, the -r 4x should ID as G04, to verify this download DVD Identifier from the link in my sig, put a disc through it and we can tell you if they are the real thing as you can see i use RITEK and swear by them @ paiger hi if you have any issues with Ritek. especially with 500 bad disc's send Ritek an e'mail and tell them where you bought them from, and the fact that they were all branded Arita and they will be very interested in your claim. i have a running dialoge with Ritek about there media, and find them extremely helpfull. i have used every type off Ritek media and have never in several 1000 had one dirty...scratched or streaky
the worst disc i ever bought were arita. they coded ricohn something. ive never had any probs with ritek.
I know Ridata is Ritek corps own branded media and its some quality stuff, just ordered 400 of them today.I know Arita uses there dye but if its truly there branded media they should be ashamed to have there name on that garbage, come on 10 different spindles and not one with out quality issues,EVERY DISC.
@paiger651 , did you ever get your money back for all those disks 500 is a lot and sounds like you spent o lot on them???/unjust
I use about 90% Ritek blanks in my burns. I order only the ones that say RITEK. Not Arita or even Ridata. I have read that many members use the Ridata and have good results with them, but my way of looking at it is that RITEK dropped the price on those for some reason. Thats why I only by the RITEK only blanks. I've burned around 500 of them in the last 2 years without one coaster. I do like TY discs also but for the price difference I'll stick with Ritek. Jerry
Unjust2u, I took it as a lessen learned. I bought these because of the Ritek name they were being avertised with and after reading the reviews on the supermedia store site decided to order them thinking they would be the same high quality as the Ridata's that ive used in the past BIG MISTAKE.Ive sense read the reviews again and the bad reviews were getting pulled by supermedia store at the time I ordered mine, if you go there now and read them people are reporting the same quality isues with these ARITA Disc and that there negative reviews keep geting deleted which is true.I left one and they deleted it.Anyway much happier now with Meritline and the Ritek ridata branded disc.
@paiger651 hi as i have said to wcalifas give us an ID of the disc's and i will broach the subject with Ritek. as a few members know, i advise as best i can on Ritek media, and if there is any chance of my giving misleading information on their media i want to know about it. it's not enough to mumble and grumble about supermedia's advertiseing strategy, get in touch with Ritek otherwise they won't know there is a problem.
So has anyone had success with this type of DVD-R? I still haven't gotten mine to see what kind of stuff I'll end up with. I'll post after I identify it with DVD Identifier.
@wcalifas hi until you ID them it's difficult to make any judgement. looking foreward to your findings. on the information i have just received from Ritek (last paragraph ) Arita not being one of theirs ,i can only assume that until IDd the source could be anything @paiger651 hi i apologize to you in the respect of stateing that Arita was Ritek branded. have amended my 1st post
while i am NO expert on Ritek, i THINK Arita IS one of Ritek's own brand names...i believe that Ritek has various "house brand" names depending on WHERE you are in the world... this was found in the UK sellers of Ritek, while also regarding Conrexx Technology as being the subsidiary of Ritek Corporation in Europe... i think Advanced Media Inc.(Ritek USA) is the Ritek subsidiary available over here specifically in the United States~ the company headquarters is actually about an hour's drive from me...i should check out RitekUSA one of these days... edited: http://www.ritekusa.com/abpress_news.asp?news=15 this basically is from the "horses' mouth...in the U.S. IF you buy the Ridata branded Riteks, you are PRETTY MUCH assured of getting genuine Ritek made media...this MAY NOT be true with the other "house brands" or just "Ritek" on them...the link above is regarding the counterfeit of Riteks...with the FAKE TY coding~!!! TYG02..wtf??? it's quite retarded that these other counterfeit companies are using a TAIYO YUDEN code on Ritek media...how is THAT for a total mixup???? docTY~
hi doc yep i spent all last evening reading all i could on the subject, including all that was written by Conrexx Tech, whilst i was waiting for a response from Ritek. ( i had to have got my thoughts from somewhere on Arita originally) the e'mail came from..ritek.com.tw so the question is. whose info do i believe. if the info i give to others is incorrect , that bothers me. of course until the disc's in question are IDd ,how is it possible to pose the possible quality issue with Ritek
@gurnard i totally agree with you, coming from a rep. at the MAIN TAIWANESE headquarters, that is REALLY from the "horse's mouth"~! Ritek is a taiwanese company, a very rich one at that, but, perhaps the response you received wasn't very thorough? or complete? i dunno~ i'm not putting down Ritek at all, you know that i have had a LOT of success with the Ridata RitekG05s and i always include Ritek in my top 3 recommendations for quality media~ so, with that being said, a media ID on the discs in question would definitely do us both some good... so, i'm assuming that since wcalifas stated he bought from SMS here in the U.S., that these "arita logo" Riteks are actually European stock? i have never tried "arita" discs before, so i can't comment on their quality...but, i think your guess is as good as mine...they will probably be RitekG04s...i've never used a inkjet printable Ritek before...so, i couldn't tell ya from experience...also, on a final note, the ONLY 4x rated media i've EVER used extensively has been the 4x dvd-r Taiyo Yudens w/ the TYG01 coding...i've stayed away from ALL others in the past p.s. can you believe i bought my 8x dvd-r Ridata RitekG05s YEARS ago? u know how much i paid for them at that time? about $0.90/disc in U.S. dollars~ this was when 8x media was FIRST introduced to the market and 4x was the "standard"...with the money spent on my 500 pieces back then...you can imagine what i could do TODAY with $450.00 U.S. currency that i spent years ago~ talk about a DROP in price...hehehehe have a good one my friend docTY~
As I stated before I only buy blanks with RITEK on them. However I really haven't read too many threads with problems on the off-shoot branded Riteks either. There was a bad batch a few months ago and I did order a 50 pack around that time, but I didn't run into any of the so called bad ones. With anything manufactured there is always the chance that something slips by for some time before quality control finds they have a problem. Even in the service business I'm in we end up with defective replacement parts that possibly several thousand went through before they catch the defect. When an assembly line is making 100 parts per minute one little mistake creats big trouble down the line. Jerry
Hey,gurnard and kivory the Arita's I have did code out as ritek.Im at work now but will post the code when I get home the one kivory posted "G04"sounds like it though.Would either of you be willing to check these disc out first hand if I send them to you,it's hard to explain but Iv never seen dye problems on any brand of disc this horrific.I can send you both a spindle to check out just let me know.
@Jerry746.hi i agree with every thing you say. @paiger651 hi i accept what you say about your disc's, they would cost a packet to ship here to the UK.lol. kivory666 knows more about the USA suppliers and when he says "i'm no expert on Ritek" he's being to modest. even i listens to what he has to say. right. back to Arita. i have done a little more research. it seems that Arita was established in 2002 .1 yr after Ridata. iv'e looked back as far as feb 2003 here on AD . and found that this very debate we are having has been going on ever since . and they don't come out very favourably at all. a small snippet from this year "Arita is aknowledged as "B" grade stock sold without warranty. produced by Ritek for Conrexx (uk distributor for Ritek)" my personal view is that i would not touch Arita with a 12ft barge pole. so therefore i am going be quiet on the subject of Arita, and stick to the ones i use and reccommend (which happens to be the same as Jerry746 and the DOC)
Nice info gurnard,I totally agree. The only inkjet printables I buy now are Ridata,Maxell and Verbatim.
@paiger651 i think it would really be too much trouble for you to send me a spindle just so i could test them out personally~ i believe you when you say the Arita's were made poorly at the time of purchase, i guess you just gotta "chalk it up" in the media book as a "dud" for the Aritas~ stick with the Ridata, Maxell and Verbatim that you stated in your last post, OR you could always consider using the GENUINE Taiyo Yudens from supermediastore if you ever feel the "urge" to and your wallet is fuller in a given month~ @jerry completely agree with you my friend, there will ALWAYS be "bad batches" with the manufacturers, no doubt about that; it's just a shame that paiger651 had bought 500 of the arita branded inkjet printables that "slipped by" quality control at the time...i too have always purchased either the Ridata branded Riteks or just the "regular" Ritek ones like you; i haven't run into the problems others have reported, but perhaps my luck with Ritek is pretty good? @gurnard awwww thanks for the kind words buddy, i really AM NO EXPERT in Ritek media, yes, admittedly i've used about 500+ of them, but that is not even close to the quantity i've used with Taiyo Yuden or even Verbatim for that matter~ bring a particular Taiyo Yuden in any of it's many delicious flavors to my attention and i can easily verify and support issues regarding TY, but at least for ME personally, i remain to stick with only the Ridata Riteks, the made in taiwan 8x dvd-r Maxells that code out as RitekG05 or the other store branded (Office Depot) Ritek manufactured from now on...i wouldn't trust the Arita ones even if SMS.com gave them to me for free~ with that i agree with you 100%, [bold]stick with what has worked for YOU and your setup in the past[/bold] and i suggest that to anyone else reading this thread...good day to you. docTY~
Kivory,I must say those GENUINE Taiyo Yudens are some quality stuff. Ive not tryed the T/Y printables yet but did pick up 26 of the 30 pack "MIJ" multi-color fuji's staples had last month.Ive used about 4 packs so far using both the Benq-1640 ,NEC-3520 all booktyped to ROM and they all play back flawless.
