I downloaded an old film off a torrent site, Its an xvid avi and the audio is mpeg1, the problem seems quite common on this forum that the audio is ever so slightly out of sync but despite reading and searching many articles I can't seem to find any that can fix this problem. I've read many articles on VirtualDub but despite folowing afew lines of thought on these they seem too technical to follow, (mux, demux, re-encode etc)I always end up banging my head against the wall, I have no clue as to what steps i should take to put this film right. If anyone can point a completely dumb PC newb in the right direction I would be very appreciative.
Not a guide but if you have an audio sync issue that is constant throughout the video, try Avi-Mux Gui: http://www.alexander-noe.com/video/amg/ Drag and drop your video into the top window, highlight it and click "generate data". Now, highlight the audio in the bottom window and the delay in ms will appear to the right. If other than 0, select "Start" which gives you the option of saving and naming the file and you'll have a new file to use in a minute or two.

Go down and click Start, putting and naming the file as you wish and use the new file to convert. It should work fine, always has for me even when the origonal plays fine on the pc but shows a delay in this program. A newly created file is then used for conversion.
