Hi gang. I have a toshiba model D-VR7 combo unit. It won't play any of my downloaded dvd's. the dvd's play on my phillips unit so I know the burned o.k. Any thought's?
Downloaded DVD files don't have a Region (area??) Code. It's possible that it's a PAL/NTSC video standard issue, but that shouldn't be a problem if you are in the UK where all the standalone machines play either format. Has this machine played burned disks in the past.
As far as I know my uncle said yes. I tried PAL and NTSC formats. It play's the first 2 minute and 15 seconds and restarts the DVD??
Does it play regular commercial disks ok. If it does, notwithstanding that the burned disk plays on the Philips, then I'm inclined to think that it's a media problem. I assume that the burned disks (if they are DVD+) are being bitset to make them appear as DVD-ROM. Also that it's getting a known-to-be-consistently-good disk like 'Verbatim'. I have a Toshiba player that is very fussy about burned disks and cannot use any kind of +R disks - but the manual should specify that.
