notice the posted picture,i bought this Sapphire 5770 to replace my aging dual 3870's. the thing is i had my dual 3870 hooked up via the VGA threw a DVI adapter never had this issue. the new 5770 that i got only has one DVI and HDMI, either connection looks the same as the posted pic now comes the trick if i piss around in the CCC panel and play with ATI OD the HDMI corrects itself only if i move the memory clock up 1 or down 1. DVI stays the same no matter what i do. i noticed to day that the DVI cable that came with my 17 inch panel Doesn't have the Single Solid metal prong the one that is dead center of the 4. i really don't want to RMA it. also forgot to mention if i use the DVI to VGA adapter this whole mess Goes away. maybe my new monitor doesn't like the Digital Signals...Works fine for the PS3 and X360 though.
uhhh.....what exactly is yoru computer doing in the picture? i see no problem with it. or am i just missing it?
holy crap that's weird...i see that now too. how can i describe it, discoloration of certain images usually button links including my start menu items. full windows sometimes have a kind of wavy texture in the background. and text seems to be blurry not like a smeared blur more like a sinking into the background blur. like i said DVI to VGA works fine, but i want to use a digital to digital connection.
can you borrow a friend's dvi cable & maybe monitor to see if still get problem. that pin you are missing is an analog ground pin according to this link. http://pinouts.ru/Video/dvi_pinout.shtml
perhaps my computer's doing it to since i can't see anything wrong with pic, however the wavy line thing mine's been doing (also using a 5770) i'm really starting to think the 5770's just don't like vga monitors.
thanks for the pin-out reference DDP. i'm going to try and grab a friends DVI cable, dont think that's going to help much as i get the same issue threw an HDMI connection. i think it might be my flat panel. i'm going to poke threw it a bit...i'll let you know what oozes out of it.
huh. this might actually be similar to what's going on with mine, but i only have noticed the wavy texture, i was told that switching to a digital monitor instead of VGA might fix it, but haven't tested it yet.
ok i RMAed it. there was a bug in the GPU that messed with the Clock presets, So said the tech. I've seen bad fabrications but I've never heard of a buggy fabrication i guess it could be possible i think a little RBE and a custom bios would have solved the problem, but i didn't want to take the chances. luckily i still have my old 3870 to fall back on, but my god its like i was missing something that i didn't know what i was missing.
