It would be funny if MS screwed its customers over by releasing GTA4 on hd dvd only making it only available to people who buy the elite or upgraded their xbox drive Do you think large games will become a issue for xbox and wi in the future?
I don't think any of the game developers have a problem with disc storage for these next gen game consoles, because they can always put the game on multiple discs.Nintendo and MS are not in bad shape when it comes to disc storage space for a large game.
correct me if i am wrong, but i was under the impression that the hd-dvd drive for the 360 could only be used for hd-dvd movies and would not be able to play hd-dvd games if and when they come out.
Your correct as far as I know nodroG479,but MS could put games on HD-Dvd.I haven't seen MS use HD-Dvd for games, but they do support the format.I think MS could release an HD-Dvd game if they wanted to,but to be honest MS is confused right now on which format is the best to use.I read an article awhile ago that mentioned MS might switch to Blu-Ray,because it is dominating in sales at the moment.I'm guessing that is the reason they made the attachment drive, because they are not sure which format is going to be the best.
Plus the hddvd drive wasn't built into the elite because of slow reading speeds... but the ps3 has a built in blu-ray drive reading at 2xbd 8xdvd 24xcd-rom..
I suppose it would be "funny". It will never happen, though. Wouldn't it be funny if the 360 could transform into a keg? I doubt it. The Wii is should be in the clear for sure. There might be a few multi-disc 360 games, but I don't think it will get any worse than any other generation.
2x read speed on BD is a lot faster than the "2x" implies because of the bandwidth/throughput of information that is able to be sent not because of said speed.....and CLV/CAV also comes into play Have a read on this http://www.gamespot.com/pages/profile/show_blog_entry.php?topic_id=23916169&user=skektek It's very basic and a bit old but it is informative for the topic
Rockstar have already said that the lack of HDD and the limits DVD are limiting GTA on 360, A freeroam game like GTA cant really be a multi disc game. Is 25gb+ needed for gaming? not for a few years, Is 8.5gb enough for current gen games? only time will tell. EDIT: The WII isnt trying to be a high-def powerhouse of awesome quality graphics so it will have no problems at all with space.
so they will love having to change thier discs everytime they get half way across the city hehe. If the shelf life of the ps3 is gonna be 10 years id guess that they will make games that fill a br disk. Tuff nuts for xbox.
