I have an avi home movie that was given to me. The movie originally was in a 4:3 aspect ratio (from film) that has been converted to 16:9, resulting in horizontal distortion. Is there any easy and free software (emphasis on free - or at least cheap, if possible) that will reconvert it back to 4:3? Any help is appreciated.
On the PC, if you use a media player like VLC or MPC, you can select a different AR during playback. You can also try MPEG4 Modifier reset the AR flag. Load the AVI and change 'Display AR' to 4:3 then save with a new name to test. http://www.videohelp.com/tools/MPEG4_Modifier
Thanks all. I downloaded AVS Video Converter which quickly and easily reconverted to 4:3, but unfortunately quadrupled the file size. Can't have everything, I guess, but don't argue with success.
