ASPI Layers

    I have just done a check with Nero Info Tool and it says I have no Aspis installed
    I run XP..SP2 and yet I can burn DVDs CDs ect ect no probs
    I was under the impression you needed aspis??

    I think if you use Nero to burn, it has its own ASPI. I have the same yellow bar, but asked earlier and that was what I was told.

    XP has its own ASPI which is SPTI and Nero uses its own. Unless you are running programs that are over 2 years old it is doubtful you will need an ASPI. Also, if you run USB DVD/CD drives ASPI will not work with them.

    Come to think of it I never had aspis with Win98 either and burnt with Nero and Clone CD ..

    I have never run ASPI on any of my computers and all my burning goes fine. There are some programs that do require them such as IMTOO, Xillisoft or Intervideo, but unless the program specifically requests it you usually do not need it. The new Nero 7 is now using SPTI as its interface and Clone uses its own. CopytoDVD uses Patin-Couffin.
