    Hey,

Recently i restored my computer to a earlier time because i had some errors after installing a program(using "System Restore")
After the restore.. my ASUS DRW-1604P CD/DVD Driver started to not respond.

When i put a disc in.. it doesn't load.
I tried to update the driver.

I even tried to download the driver for ASUS DRW-1604P but i could only find updates for it.

(By the way i don't have the CD for the driver)
Can any 1 help me about this problem?

Cant really help with your problem, i had a drive that im pretty sure was the same model as yours if not a few off. And it did the exact same thing within a month of having it, only used it 5-6 times. It makes a grinding noise when trying to load discs most of the time but very rarely ever loaded them.
I took it to get fixed and it worked for a few more burns then crapped out again.

So I recommend, if possible, that you return it to where you got it and get a different one.

Mine also makes a grinding noise but i got this computer 1 year ago from my Uncle, and i don't think returning it is possible for me.

Either get a new one, or take it to a electronic repair shop to get it fixed like i did keeping in mind my one just broke within a month.

after mine broke the second time i was going to ask the repair place what they did to fix it, but i never did. A similar problem recently developed in my cd-writer (after about 3 years solid use), so i adjusted the laser voltage potentometers and it now works great.
I got the idea for trying this because its a common problem in Playstation 2's and can fix them as well.
