Here are my specs for my new PC:

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus Formula Special Edition
    Video Card: ASUS EAH3870 DDR4 512MB PCI-E 2.0
    Sound Card: SoundFX 2(From Motherboard)
    RAM: 3 GB
    OS: ?
    CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600

I have not built this PC yet but I am figuring out if I should buy Vista or XP. Some say Vista is better than XP for gaming. Btw, I usually am going to play Dx9 games so, would using xp be better? or vista home premium. I have also heard that vista has problems playing dx9 games. Lastly, please check if my all my specs are compatible with each other. Thanks!

Will DX9 games work well with vista? Also, will I be able to use daemon tools or alcohol 120% in vista? Thanks!

See my sig, basically same pc. Works great. Got vista ultimate 64, no problems so far. I am booting with XP as well, just in case.

With one card, I get 12,967 in 3dmark06, with now overclock. With 2 I get 18027. Hopefully I can break the 20k mark.

The 3870, paired with the Maximus and a Q6600 are kick ass. Even Crysis runs with frames above 20 with everything set to very high, but post processing to high at 1152/864. Thats with one card by the way...

I just currently got a PC being built with the following specs:

Motherboard: ASUS Maximus Formula Special Edition
    Hard Drive: 500GB SATA
    RAM: 4GB
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit Edition
    Video Card: ASUS EAH3870 DDR4 512MB PCI-E 2.0
    Sound Card: Supreme FX 2
    Case/PSU: 500 watts

Please tell me this is good enough to play the latest games out there. Thanks!

firstly, 4GB ram wont be seen with 32bit OS, you need 64bit. secondly, you should tell us what companies make the RAM PSU/case and HDD

I see. However, are my specs for my new pc enough for downloading, internet use, burning and playing the latest games at the same time with no problems at all? Thanks!

    Yes.

I dont think there is any app out there that a normal gamer would use that would take up the full 4 gigs, or 3 maybe.

When I play Crysis, I see that it takes around 1200mb in the middle of the game, and when you add Vista to that, thats a little over 2 gigs.

Most people only get 2GB of ram, but with Vista that is a no-no.

But to answer your question, yes, you can play the latest games.

Alright. By the way, since windows vista home premium 32-bit version does not recognize the 4gb, will my system put the 4gb into use?

it sees up to 4GB. Vista uses .8GB usualy, so thats why it will be 3.2-3GB.

yes. However, some games may not work with vista, or you may get random errors/freezes (although this is unlikely since there has been many updates since vista was first released).

You should be able to play with most games, as windows XP games are backwards compatible with vista.

Does Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit edition come with speech recognition? BTW, the speech recognition requires a microphone rite?

I think it comes with it. However I am not sure how to use it since I never have.
