    Hi,

I am new here so if I am posting in the wrong spot i apologies in advance.

I am trying convert a avi to vcd (one hour vid 350MB xvid) with cucusoft and it says it will take like 9 hours. Is this normal on a computer like mine?

    Athlon 64 3200+
1 gig pc 3200 ram running at 400Mhz
    9800 pro vid card
hard drive with plenty of space.

Any tips guys? Or maybe you can point me in the direction of some software that is easy to use and will take less time than the cucusoft I bought.

    Thanks,

    worm

haven't tried cucusoft (actually not very familiar with it).

your pc is a power house. on mine an athlon xp 2500+ barton takes 9 hours of encoding for a 60minute video using tmpgenc. but, i'm using 2pass vbr, and colour filter, and the highest quality setting in motion precision.

so you might wanna check the settings you choose on the video

    Thanks shiroh.

Giving TMPEGnc a go. Not as easy to use but not rocket sience either :)

BTW. Is your Barton 2500+ Over clocked to 3200? I swear the chip was built for it. Do you have any heat issues encodding for 9 hour straight?

    Cheers,

    Worm
