ati 2600 xt what the deal with why so cheap but so has so meany feachers http://www.sapphiretech.com/us/products/products_overview.php?gpid=179 just b4 i buy one
It's cheap becuase its the lower end of the "2" family by ATi. It's not as fast as the 2900HD, but its considered to be simular to a 8400 by nvidia. Bottem line, its not as fast, and thats why its cheap.
but for the buget im on (£100 max for a g-card) would u say its one over the better choices also will be crossfireing it at a later date
Actually the 2600 is more like the 8600 GT, but anyway you probably should consider the 7600 GT. That card is cheaper and better.
elo thanx for the help i must sound like a pain in the ass but i have a crossfire mobo that y i want ati
I wouldn't crossfire if I were you. Crossfire or SLI is for rich people who already bought the best video card out there and want to increase their performance even more. Just getting a better video card for the price of two lower quality video cards is a better choice.
There is a big difference in performance between those two cards. The x1950xtx 512mb is much better. So get that if you can.
IS the 320MB 8800GTS not cheaper than the X1950XT-X by now? It'd probably be faster, at any rate. In any case, for £100, get a 7600GT, it'll be better than an HD2600XT I reckon.
Yeah I think the 8800 GTS is now cheaper than the X1950 XTX. Kinda off topic but I never realized there were PCI-E 1x cards!
Probably yeah, but they won't be much faster than PCI cards, 1x isn't really for graphics, it's for peripherals like sound cards, much like the old PCI bus was. Believe it or not you can get PCI express 16x RAID and Network cards now.
Don't waste your money on the 2600,2400xt or 8400,8600gt't. These card are completely useless for playing games. The only good thing about these cards is that they are directx10 cards...that is all. If you are planning to buy one for general use other than for playing games then by all means go ahead.
They're not totally useless, but there are better cards about. The 7600GT is about the same as the 8600GT, and slightly faster than the HD2600XT, but I bet it's a lot cheaper.
