    Hi there,

Long time reader and first time poster here.
I am considering getting rid of my cable TV bill and hooking my computer up to my 42" plasma display so I can watch Hulu / TV.com exclusively. My plasma TV doesn't have a VGA input so I was considering using a VGA to component video converter cable.

My problem is that I don't know if my laptop's video card will support my television. My computer has a Radeon Xpress 200M and I'm running Ubuntu Jaunty for OS. I'm not very versed (obviously) in video formats / codecs so any help or advice from you guys and gals would be super appreciated.

    Cheers!

I don't think it will work. Those cables are usually used for component out-> to VGA in on projectors which specifically support this function (component via VGA).

To connect a VGA computer out to a component HDTV input you need a converter.
