For the last few days a large number of Bots have been trying to register. We know they're bots by their choice of naming. Notice that everyone of the names start with a single digit, a name, a 4 digit number, 2 letters, and a single digit number in that exact pattern? What are the odds that 4 individuals are all registering at the exact same time using the exact same naming pattern?

Enjoy your holidays ddp because you really have your work cut out for you. Maybe we should all start a GoFundme page to keep you sauced up right through the New Year?:D

It's probably a room full of computers firing bots onto the internet. A dead give away is the repeated naming pattern.

I actually bit on one of those spammers the other day even though I should have known better after all these years in different forums.

I overlooked the fact that the author had posted a link to a specific website. On the other hand, the possible solution I provided was applicable to his/her question. The thread was deleted so it's unavailable for further review unless you're able to recover it (I don't remember the question).

If it's the one I'm thinking of, the spammer embedded the link into a single word in their post, an honest mistake. I almost missed that one too.

The one I'm thinking of had something like a 3 word sentence to start his post and the last word was the link. He then described his problem. I looked in my watched threads and the one we're talking about isn't there, apparently because it was deleted.

That could be right, but as I remember it the link was embedded in the word "here." It doesn't get any more innocuous than that. When a word has a link on AD, it's blue colored, but otherwise there are no other indicators.

I remember it was clearly a one word link, in blue, as you noted.

It was only a short time ago that AD was facing an onslaught of Christmas Bots. And now here we are under assault by a group of gender confused bots. That's right, someone just registered as a 41 year old male with the nic "Lois Clark." I realize it's possible the new signup is a Superman fan, but Lois Clark? Maybe we need to start a new thread aimed at helping bots choose realistic nics. That way they can be banned with full honors (honours for CDN;Brits).

I realize it isn't Christmas, but I saw someone registering this morning. A 20 year old male using the nick Jennifer124. No, that's not a "bot," all 20 year old males register with girl names. LOL
