No worries here, buddy. That was not an intent or anything alright and I seriously mean it. Cheers now, I used to use Ritek in the past as well.

Nice bike there. I used to have a Kawasaki back in the mid 90's with a few of my cousins and nephew them, but ever since I slipped, I no longer touch it anymore.

Here's another genuine YUDEN000T02 burned at 4X -- I've just burned "The Island" a while ago. All I can say is "awesome... super awesome..!!"

That is very impressive indeed, alkohol, esp PI.

I've been getting around 97 rating as I mentioned earlier with Maxell (Ritek G05)....

Decided to give Verbatim 16x dvd+r adv AZO+ (photo printable) a try.

After backing up 3 Ps2 games (still to check), I backed up a dvd, burned at x4.....got a quality score of 60, PI failures high.

Ouch... Played ok mind you, still hope its a one off.

I realize that this is flogging a dead horse, but I have to show this scan. this is a TYG02 (8X) burned at 16X on a BenQ 1620. I also scanned it with the BenQ and got a score of 99. You can't get a score of 99 with a Lite-On because a peak PIF of 1 gives a 98 and fractional PIF is not shown. I don't really care what speed people burn at. Faster sometimes is OK. I used to have a Pioneer 107D that I had hacked firmware in so it would burn anything at any speed up to 8X. I found, with it anyway, I always got a better scan with a disc burned at 6X than I did at 4X. This was even with a 4X disc. I can't explain it, but it happened. I burn primarily with my BenQ now and it never offers a 6X burn. My Pioneer and Lite-On both do, though.

A friend picked up some JVC +R at Big Lots for $11.99 for a spindle of 30. I asked him if I could have one to try out, just for sh**ts and giggles. Here are the horrid results...

I hadn't read anything that I can recall about the JVC's, so I thought I would offer that scan up...just a little knowledge at someone elses expense. LOL

I like the no keyboard in your sig. What I usually get with a fresh install of Windows XP is a message that it can't find a driver for my network adapter and do I want to go on the internet to look for one. That makes about as much sense as pressing keys on a non existing keyboard.

I am a relative newby. I ran Nero CD-DVD Speed and all worked except Disc Quality. I have tried burned and blank disc and it will not run.
What am I doing wrong and how do I make it work. There seems to be no printed directions for this part of Nero.

Many thanks for your kind endulgence.

Not all burners support PIE/PIF scans. I have a Pioneer and an LG that don't. Lite-On and BenQ do. Those are all that I've had experience with.

Yeah thanks for the great thread. Since I came across it, I've been testing all my media and it further supports your scans. I knew CMC Mag was bad, but quality scores of 13 or 10, yuck. Taiyo Yuden is the shiite. Even DVD's I burned with 10 programs running got quality scores in the 80's. Of course from now on I will shut everything down when burning. The TY's I burned with nothing running all come out to 95's. Nothing else will ever grace the inside of my modded PS2. Burn in hell CMC Mag. Alkohol, I'd like permission to use this thread in my PS2 FAQ: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/252193 Thank you.

I have read the book of Nero 7 and there a part on CD-DVD Speed but no instructions. I have 2 Plextors, 1 Pioneer and 1 MadDog DVD burners and all run all the tests except the Disk Quality, on that function, the start button is greyed out and will not start. Is there anything I can do? I'm sorry to be so inept in this matter.
