audio and video out of synch

    why are my audio and video slightly out of synch? i noticed it while watching That Thing You Do!...the hand claps during the recording in the church are off on my home theater system , but are fine on my compuers dvd drive

    Only if the sync issue is constant throughout the encoded movie and it's avi. Download AviMux_Hui: http://www.alexander-noe.com/video/amg/ (vl binary 17.8) Open your original avi in AviMux_Gui, highlight and select generate data. In the lower window, highlight audio and any delay will appear to the right. If other than 0 show's, select start and use the new avi to encode (take's about 30 second's). And check all avi first, most won't show any sync issue until encoded.     thats the strange thing...this is a store bought dvd. i have a delay time adjustment on the center speaker in my yamaha reciever but i dont notice either setting matching the audio to the video...like i said, when its played on my computers drive, it syncs fine. any delay in hdmi cables possibly? thats all i can think of
