just recently, when burning audio cd`s it would convert the list of songs, then once it started to burn the disc it would "close" the disc after 1% of the first track. i would then get a message saying " make sure the disc is clean or try another brand of cd " i have used the brand of cd for the last 5 or so occasions and its been ok. i have had this problem on the last 6 attempts to "burn" consecutively with 2 different brands of disc, so i don`t think it`s the cd`s. i`ve used a cd cleaner in case it`s that. my cd writer is not exactly brand new (could it be knackered) also my memory (RAM) is low & needs upgrading - could that be a factor ? ( i have about 70 odd gig of space on my hard drive but only 224 MB of RAM) does this affect anything ? any help would be appreciated, cheers - banksy.
sounds like a burner going bad possibly, how old is it? first try burning at a lower speed, see if that works
thanks for your reply, i got the burner given (2nd hand)! i`ve tried burning right down to x1 speed & it still happens. what is a good brand of burner to buy ? (not too dear)it`s only for personal use. what is a good brand of disc ? can you copy playstation / pc games with a dvd burner ? cheers, banksy.
good burners are NEC, Pioneer, Plextor, TDK, and Sony. For media I use TDK or Sony. You can indeed burn PS2 games with a DV burner (check out the ps2 section for more details) but note that you need a mod chip in your PS2 in order for them to work.
you can copy PC games, but note that most how have copy protection, and you have to use special tools to remove the copy protection. check out the guides section here. about burning audio, whether you're copying a CD or burning a CD from mp3s, it usually takes under 5 minutes with a 48 or 52 X CD burner
