Hi all, I have recently been trying to fix the issue of divx videos that ive put on the Playstation 3 that will play only video but for no reason the audio dosnt play at all. I found that using Virtualdub mod, ripping the audio into wav and recompressing it to mp3 based codec at 192kbps worked well. Here is the problem, about about 38mins in a 44min video and a little while into a 1 and a half hour video the audio shifts and goes out of the sync with the video, suddenly and by about 2-3 seconds. Up until then it has no problem. Since it happens half way through the movie i am at a loss on how to correct it. Also when I try and rip the audio into a WAV file the resulting file is aprox 2 seonds longer than the original and i dont know how to fix this or if it is even an issue. I am a noob at all this so please be kind. Any help is appreciated.
I had this problem with a file and made these notes on the fix. Note that I made these notes for VirtualDub - not VirtualDubMod. Assumes that the you know how to step through the video in VirtualDub using the slider and keyframes - and the keyframes are reasonably close (fifteen frames): Select and save the good first part - you want the cut to be on a keyframe if possible. After saving the first part, 'Cut' it, leaving the async part. Adjust the audio and save this part. Load/append both parts and save as a new file. Since there is no encoding being done (because we cut on keyframes and use direct stream copy) there should be no loss of quality. Load the problem file and use the slider to get to the approximate point where it does out of sync. Use the keyframe buttons to go back and forward, and play the file . Use the keyframe before the async and use the little flag symbol to mark it. You should have the clip marked from the beginning of the file to the last keyframe where the audio is good. 'Video' > 'Direct Stream Copy' 'File' > 'Save as AVI' give it a name like 'Part1' 'Edit' > 'Cut' 'Audio' > 'Interleaving' In 'Audio Skew Correction' insert a value (start with -200 or 200) and play the file to see if it is back in sync. Keep adjusting and testing until ok. 'File' > 'Save as AVI' give it a name like 'Part2' Close VirtualDub and reopen. Load part1 then 'Append' part 2. Play the file to see if it is ok. Video' > 'Direct Stream Copy'. 'File' > 'Save as AVI'.
