I have my windows media center pc audio connected to my hdtv via a red/white audio cable (tv) to a cheap stereo plug converter (pc) plugged into the "front" speaker jack. I seem to be getting a lot of feedback/static all the time. On certain mpeg files, the volume is way low. In order to listen to the video, I have to turn the TV volume very high which also increases the volume of the static. Two questions: (1) Should I be connecting the audio through some other means? I cannot find an audio card that has red/white plugs, only multiple stereo jacks for surround. Is there some other type of converter I'm missing? (2) Is there any way to increase the volume setting of the mpeg file itself, such as the option in iTunes which allows you to increase the default volume of an individual mp3?
I've decided to try some new connections. Instead of s-video, I'm going to replace with a DVI (pc) to VGA (tv) cable. Also, that input on my tv has a 3.5mm stereo input, so I am going to go direct 3.5mm stereo plug out to it. Hopefully this will reduce the interference. Still, is there anyway to change the default volume levels on mpegs????
