Okay, my audio works fine, the speakers that came with my computer work fine, and as far as I know my sound card works if that all works as mentioned above. I have a microphone jack and headphone jack on front of my pc tower as well as two usb ports. My pc model is a HP pavilion a6203w desktop. The problem I am running into is the mic's I have 4 of them, none of them work on the front mic jack, have not yet tried the back mic jack, if there is one on the back of the pc, not sure. What would cause this? It was working fine last night when I was recording my sample for a small audio/song track. I have stock sound card, and nothing fancy done to it, all stock. The mic's are M-Audio session and sampler mics. They work on my friend comp as well as our band equipment, so I don't konw what is wrong. Thanks. TL;DR? Base is, front mic jack, when I plug in mic, I get no sound, nothing. What is causing this? Sound and audio otherwise works fine.
That was it, but question while we are on the subject. In the preferences on audacity, my recording program, I noticed I had to change the settings because that is why I wasn't getting sound. It was settings with the Default Sample Rate, Default Sample Format, Real Time Dither, High Quality Dithe, Real Time Sample Rate Convert, And High Quality Sample Rate Converter. ^ What does all of that do? I screwed around with those settings and it started working again. It was on 32-bit, now it is on 16-bit, I took both of the dither from Shaped, to None, and the Converters from High Quality Sinc Interpolation, to Fast Sinc Interpolation.
