I convert a lot of avi/mpeg files to dvd files using convertx to dvd and most of my results are great!recently a few movies I have converted come out with the audio out of sync(about 2 sec)really bugs me!could it be the file?or the dvds I am using? I am leaning towards the file since not everything is out of sync.
    any suggestions?thanks

It may be the source file.
You can test it by converting the problem file with FAVC, it's quite good at converting problem files.

If that doesn't work, you can use AviMux_Gui for any constant sync issues (only) and make a new avi, (free) only takes 30 seconds. http://www.alexander-noe.com/video/amg/#donload download binary vl. 17.8 and open your avi in it, highlight the avi in the top window and select generate data. In the lower window, highlight audio that appears and if other than 0 appears to the right, select start and make a new avi to use. Good for joining avi too.

whats odd is that I checked my source files, amd they are perfectly fine??so i was thinking it was the Dvds I was using, so I tried 3 different brands and they all were out of sync with the finished product? So I checked the converted video files as soon as convertx was done with them and they ARE out of sync! So now I am pretty sure that is something happening during the conversion progress with convertx(never had any issues with it before)So any thoughts on fixing this issue? Are there better programs to use than convertx?

The original files will always be in sync and this isn't a media issue, VBR audio or something. I've had this happen 100 times and AviMux_Gui has only about a 1% fail rate, I actually found it as a result of ConvertXtoDVD encoding a file with bad audio. I don't see ConverXtoDVD only causing this, others do as well. This only applies to a constant sync issue and I check all avi before converting

No, this program is only creating a new avi you then encode instead of the original with ConvertXtoDVD. But, if AviMux_Gui shows 0 after highlighting audio, a new avi will not help. Never had any issues with these files (in years of use) and ConvertXtoDVD.

Generate data is right below the first window where you add the avi; adding the avi makes it more visible. Only ever used it on avi so don't know about other formats but doubt it.
