Hey, thanks for the fast response, yes and they seem fine I really need help on this, i dont know what to do. If someobody has a solution please tell me. Thanks
No, its not, its just IE, I also have Sbc yahoo explorer, but its the same thing, I cant hear anything out of the websites. I cant hear when my buddies send me messages neither in msn messenger. Is there anything else to do?
Check all your audio settings, and under Volume Control, Options, and Properties, look for anything that might not have a check mark next to it, or if it is muted.
I searched on goole and I found this: 1) Click on Start, then Settings, and click on the Control Panel. 2) Double click on the Multimedia icon. 3) Click on the Devices tab. 4) Click the "+" next to Media Control Devices. 5) If Wave Audio Device is there, double-click on it, and then click on the Remove button, and click OK (2X); now close the Multimedia box. If it is not there, then close Multimedia. 6) Double click on the Add New Hardware icon. Click on Next, and when asked either "Yes" or "No" click on "No" and then click on Next. 7) This will bring up a list of hardware devices. Click on "Sound, video, and game controllers" and click on Next. 8) Windows will build a driver information database. 9) Next you will see two lists, Manufacturers and Models. 9) Under Manufacturers, select "Microsoft MCI" and under Models select "Wave audio device". 10) Click Next. Click Next again, and when given the chance, click Finish. 11) Close out of the control panel and restart the computer. 12) Upon re-entrance to the desktop, you should have your default Windows sounds again. I cant find the Multimedia icon though. This is a windows 98 tutorial, and i dont know how to fix it. Yes i checked the Volume Contol and everything was fine, and i still cant hear from the internet.

Thanks, but you see i already have a good website on how to fix this problem: http://www.geocities.com/mmsystem002/ but, solution #1, didnt work for me, #2, was not necessary, #3 is the one that i want to do but i cant find the multimedia icon, and i just try to add the hardware, i click no, and it automatically says finish. #4 will take too much time, and i dont even have the formatting cds. So #3 is my only hope but i dont understand it because its in Windows 98, and i have xp, So if you can help me on 3, or some other solution that would be great. Thanks
Try this to find what you are looking for but first answer these questions: Do you have sound with a Music CD in your system? Find on the internet these audio files and see if they play once downloaded on your desktop: Midi and wave files. If they do and you hear sound with a music cd then your audio is doing it's job for the most part. Start Control Panel Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices Sounds and Audio Devices Look under the audio tab and see what is selected, and look the other tabs to view anything else out of the ordinary.
Yes, it can play cd's, and i checked on the control panel but everything is fine. Where do i get the MIdi and wave files?
Just search for them on the internet. Try this link. Once on the site you should also hear sounds. http://www.mididb.com/
No, it didnt work. ARghhhh!!, what did i do? everything was fine, the sound speaker icon in the lower right is not there anymore. I barely got this pc in September, and now this happened. If there is anybody out there that has a solution, please tell me. thanks for helping me SubaBud, if you have any more suggestions, ill really appreciate it.
Yes, and i turned up the volume all the way up and i couldnt hear anything when i entered the website. I guess im going to have to format my pc. I really didnt want to do that. But i have a problem, i dont have the format cds. Do i need them?
Forget the website as far as hearing anything. You need to download a mini file and a wave file and test them on your PC to see if you can hear them.
I did, i downloaded one named: Crawling, and it didnt work, i didnt hear anything.., i dont know, i read something about booting up my pc in safe mode, deleting drivers, and restarting my pc. I really didnt understand. This is getting so frustrating.
Find My Computer and right click on it and when a menu pops up, select properties. Click on properties and select the Hardware tab. There you will see Device manager and in there you will see your Sound, video and game controllers. You can try and remove them from there, then refresh or scan for hardware changes and see if they will re-install themselves from there.
How do I remove them?, theres no, delete, or remove option. Did I mention my speaker in the system tray does not appear?, yesterday it did, now it doesnt..
Try highlighting one at a time and right click to uninstall. That is after you double click on Sounds, video, etc. and it opens up with all the devices under that heading.
