    hi i have desktop speakers,but they seem to have a mind of there own!
    sometimes they'll work sometimes they won't!"!!
    can anyone help??
    i've tried all the usual remedies, the controls seem to be ok but no sound.

    Make sure they are connected into the right sound port, and then update to the most recent driver version.

    If you are using a PCI sound card, and you're not going to use the onboard sound, I'd recommend disabling it in the BIOS.

    Trust me, I'm not putting anyone down....there's been plenty of times I've found the sound not working because I plugged it into a misleading port. Especially when computer designers went from black to green.
