I have been asked by a relative who is blind,if i could D/load an Audiobook and copy to a cd so he can listen on his cd player. I found some james bond audiobooks which I D/loaded and are in mp3 format. I have tried to burn the books to cd using nero & media player but without success. I am obviously not using the right method and would be grateful for some advice on how to do this. I thought it was just a matter of burning the files the same as a normal music album, but are the audiobooks to be done a different way?. I have been reading a lot of forums but cant seem to find exactly what I need.
An mp3 player, actually an ipod, is best for audio books. I am pretty much an Apple hater but I will give Apple its due when required. The next best is mp3 CDs but you need an mp3 CD player. Unabridged big books can take 20-30 CDs. Try Media Monkey. The burning routines are far more user friendly than Nero and may produce a superior product. In 2000 Nero was quite the champ but I consider it very inferior today. A suggestion, burn the metadata to the CD if you burn an audio CD. There will be a check box or something like that to 'write CD text'. That way the titles etc stay with the audio.
Thanks Mez, Have now got Media Monkey and have copied 4 Bond movies to dvd. This will make someone very happy. Decided this is the best option rather than use loads of cd`s. At least the Monkey managed to help. Now got to buy my relation portable dvd player. Thanks again.

DVDs are better than CDs for sure! I suggest going to google shop for a cheap nano. I prefer the Sansa View for everything except audio books. itunes allows FF and RW easily. Both allow bookmarks which I do not use since they start where they let off. I picked up a 8g view for $20 if you are strapped for cash, that is the way to go. After 5 yrs no one has ever complained about Media Monkey's burn routine. It is also great for syncing. You DO NOT want to use itunes to sync audio books since it is usually a pain to remove anything from your player with itunes. Apple just wants you to buy a player as big as your audio library. Portables are perfect for audio books. Your relation should be very pleased. One last tip, tell your relation to make the book into a playlist before syncing. That forces the order without much work. Otherwise, there is always a few chapters that go rouge. Lastly, since you are making the mp3s, even 40 BR is over kill for audio books. I use 40 because LAME, made for HiFi, does not do well in the ultra - low fi range especially below 40. On line libraries use 16 bits which sounds just fine. I am too lazy to find a LoFi mp3 encoder and I just don't like wmas and m4as because they don't play on everything easily.
