Aaaahhhh, I get it. So, all I have to do to solve the problem of the messed galaxy screen(a VERY common problem) is to put CD Loader on a USB Pendrive. Did I get that right?

CD Loader can boot CD backups, but not all of them. I loaded a CD backup game no problem with it.

Can we use a burnt Action Replay Max CD (with media)? Would that work in place of the original CD? I know this is a dumb question. But, it never hurts to get an answer. lol.

To use a burnt Action Replay disc, you'd need a loader for it and that would pretty much defeat the purpose.

Yeah, then you would need Swap Magic or moded PS2. You can't use burned media without original media which would load the burned media first place?!

Awesome guide you've posted, MasterChu. =)

Followed the exact steps and successfully booted up my backup copy of Madden NFL 2005.

However, I ran into one minor problem. I also followed the steps to patch the DNAS ID onto the disc so I could play online. The disc booted up perfectly. I even got past the DNAS security check. However, I could not completely go online because the EA servers would not let me log in, giving me a message "A cheat device has been detected on your system" or something along those lines. I'm guessing it's because of ARMAX.

My question is, is there any possible way to get around this problem? Is it just EA servers that do not allow players to log in if a cheat device like ARMAX is loaded, or is it the same with all online-enabled games? I have absolutely no intentions to cheat online. Wouldn't want to ruin other players gaming experience. I'd just like to be able to play my backup copies online as well.

However, if there's no fix, I guess I'll just have to stick to playing with the originals.

I'd just like to applaude MasterChu again for the awesome guide.

    Keep on gaming guys! =)

Very nice guide, I can't wait to try it (if my friend ever orders it...) Why don't i just use the tape and tissue method, you say? See how it says "be careful not to damage the power ribbon?" I've had bad experiences...thank god for EB Games warranties...lol....

Anyway, just a question that i need clearing up:
Do you need to use the original of the backup every time to play the backup? Do you only need to use it once? Or can you use any game to play the backup, even if they aren't the same?

Thanks, have a good one =).

Ok, I've been having a bit of a problem, I loaded everything perfectly, got to CD Loader with the mod installed, inserted an original ps2 dvd game and it detected it in the bottom left, but then when I press X, it doesn't go to "insert dvd-r by ea method," it comes up with a screen that says "error validating disc" and then quickly goes back to the main screen. I tried some other games by reseting the laser, putting them in, pressing triangle, and then x again, but I always get the same error....does anybody have any idea whats going on? I followed the steps given exactly.

By the way, the original games I tried (All NTSC/US) were:
    -Madden NFL 2005
    -DDR Max 2
    -DDR Extreme
    -Star Wars Battlefront 2
    -Call of Duty: Finest Hour
    -SSX On Tour

How can i enable Action Replay cheats if i use your method of booting up backup games?

    It seems impossible..

    Hi guys,

I'm using this method to play backups and they load up to the title screen fine. Once i start to play the game though, it freezes in the first loading screen. I'm using GT4 to boot the game (3.6GB or so) and have had the problem with Tony Hawk's AW and Suikoden IV... both smaller.

    Any ideas?

I tried loading with a different real PS2 game (Chaos Theory) which i'm guessing is even bigger. Now the "backups" work. Thanks guys.

ok, first off...thanks for the guide.
I ran into a problem, but most important...this method worked.
I got my backup of resident evil 4 to work,
but my problem is my PAL backup of Fire Pro Wrestling Returns.
Everything went well up to the point where i tried to load the game.
All i get is a black screen...and nothing further.
I figure it is because it's a PAL backup.
Do i have to use a different loader besides cdloader.elf?
Or is there a way to trick the ps2 to think the game is NTSC?
    any suggestions would be appreciated.
    thank you

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this only works for DVD backups.
To play CD's, you swap at the main AR screen and use expert mode to start the game.
Oh, and Jjax's guide is better, just remember the pendrive
