First save both GT ROM Loader and the 2.57_FIXED firmware to your desktop

    Updating Firmware

Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starvi*w does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)

Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT that matches the one that is being used

Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your Desktop.

Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase
then Download completed message on your PC.
Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE pop up on your PC before removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starvi*w will then reboot

Disconnect from PC and connect back up to the TV

as celtic says download the gtrom and 257ee fixed [ if it has fixed in it that one is ok ],click on gtrom red arrow symbol to open, that pops up another page called gtrom loader, clink on bin file and select 257ee fixed,on serial port you have com port u have to select correct one for download to work, file type app file only selected, and then download

sorry to be a nuisance but this is far too technical for me. i have downloaded gtrom file and 257ee fixed but when i try to open them i get a load of gobbledegook, cant find the red arrow or anything else. from the begining i open the eko link click on starvi*w then on firmware then gtrom and 257ee fixed, download and save them to desktop but when i try to open them as i said i get nothing

double click on the GTRom loader on your desktop.
then select bin file, then 2.57ee fixed.
if you still have problems, try & download the GTRom onto your desktop again.

you cant, thats why its called autoroll - Press menu, type 1570, tap down to defualt key and press it, press exit and exit again, go to sky sports, you box will now show INFO UPDATING and it will then show percentages as it rolls the keys. This is what autoroll is.

Daisy , are you using a PC or a laptop ?

Sounds like the USB Adapter is giving you problems

Can you try it from a PC with the 9 pin port without using the USB Adapter ?

The most common issue when installing the USB adapter and driver is selecting the correct port for your software to recognize.

You must make sure your particular software is looking on the correct port for it to transfer any data.

To see which port your USB adapter is connected to, connect your USB adapter and follow the following instructions:

    1. Go to the Start Menu
    2. Right click on "My Computer"
    3. Select "Properties"
    4. Click on the "Hardware" tab
    5. Click on "Device Manager"
    6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)"
    7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.)
    8. Go back to your software program that you use to transfer data and make sure it is looking at the correct port.
    9. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected

If you need drivers go here
