    Hi there,

As a deaf person i would like to know if there are any programmes that can extract the text directly from the video without needing to type. It is difficult for a deaf person to hear what is being said.

Obviously the text would need some fine editing afterwards, but is it possible to just get it straight off the video?

Hope someone can help here, would be a great assistance to the deaf around the world.

    Have a great day

    Merle

I'm not clear what you want.
Do you want to extract subtitles from a DVD or TV Teletext(EU)/ Closed Captions (North America).

I think that's still in the future.

"usually_quiet" posts at the Videohelp site and seems up on what's happening in video as it relates to closed captions and the deaf.
It may be worth a search or a post there.
