    Hi
Could someone out there answer this one for me?
I have finally got my setup sorted out with the delivery of MYSKYHDi (New Zealand). All is working however I have MYSKYHDi connected to my AV Receiver via HDMI and then AV Receiver to LCD TV via HDMI.
When I have the Movie Channel up and running I can hear that I have 5.1 Surround going on but my OSD on the AV Receiver does not visually confirm this. Is this something to do with HDMI or.........???
Any thoughts/suggestions or is it just the way it is.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the information.
    I have a Yamaha RXV463.
I will have another look at the User Guide and see what it says.
My other Optical/Coaxial Inputs are being used so this was the only free option.

The RX-V463 should carry surround audio through HDMI ok. Did you assign the HDMI input you used, to what's plugged into it? Is the Yamaha set to auto, for audio detection? What does the OSD on the Yamaha show, when you hear 5.1 coming from Movie Channel? Maybe you're not getting Dolby Digital 5.1 surround. Maybe it's on DPL II or 5 ch. stereo, and that's why something is coming from all the speakers. You're positive it's 5.1 you're hearing from Movie Channel?

They say some cable and sat boxes have a problem with the "handshake" between them and the receiver, with HDMI. In the cable/sat box setup menus, make sure the audio output is set to Dolby Digital. When receiving a Dolby Digital signal, the Yamaha should show "Dolby Digital", in the OSD on front of it (if receiver is set to auto detect). If it doesn't show Dolby Digital in the OSD window, you're not getting a Dolby Digital signal.

    Hi JVC
    Thanks for the info.
It drives me mad all this.
Just when you think you have it sussed something else decides to go belly up.
In all honesty I'm not sure if it is 5.1 Surround.
All other inputs light up like a Christmas Tree straight away for example Optical/Coaxial.
These are all used and my only option is now via HDMI (as far as my knowledge suggests anyways).
I have assigned all inputs accordingly as far as I know.
Most are set to Audio Detenction as you mention.
The difference with HDMI is that it only acknowledges that the Front Left/Right speakers are picking up sound but with my ear doing the rounds of the other speakers I can hear sound from each and say speech from Middle Front and background sound from Rear.
I would like it to confirm this on my OSD.
Perhaps I am missing something again?
I will have another check when I get in from work tonight.
I have been through most of my Audio options and it's not 5Ch Stereo.
It is set on Dolby Digital and has also been on PLII.
Will also check my Sat Box. It doesn't have a Dolby Digital option I'm sure but again will check.
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards
    Frazer
