sorry but it dont work like that, what ya watch downstairs, is the same upstairs on that specific channel, you can watch your normal channels via cable, but what ya watch on the TV downstairs will be on your AV channel upstairs,

He can't do it with the AV, but can he not get a box and split the signal and run it to his upstairs?

Depending on his provider of course.

He is talking about SKY, so I would presume he is trying to do a multi room with out the additonal box's, if he is talking about cable then yes your right, split the cable, add a box, but not get one channel downstairs (Sport) and one upsatairs (a Movies) using a AV sender on a SKY sub.

So basically he'll have to change provider and buy a box.

if i am reading him right, then yes. The AV sendors send the signal about the house and the magic eye, will allow you to switch the channel from upstairs which is fine, but what I think he is looking for is to have one SKY box, watch wrestling downstairs and watch a soccer match upstairs all via the SKY box, which you cant do, this is sky multi room. if he is on cable then he just adds another box and away ya go. watch what ya want on each box via a split cable or use a sendor to watch the channel upsatairs, but whats on upstairs will be on down stairs

EDIT - Luke, as you dont state where you are we cant, we all dont live in the same country and town. A Digital aerial, in Ireland its MMDS, you dont have that in the Uk as far as I know

Well, it would be helpful if he said where he was, that way you could tell him what options are available to him.

Edit - Sorry you asked where he was same time as me lol!

I just did, there is no MMDS in the UK, just Ireland for rural areas where there is no cable connection,

If anyone wants to add to that please feel free

For weak freeview areas use a booster near the antennae. Have a look here

I live in Dublin, Ireland and am looking to connect 4 TVs to 1 set top box (N*L cable), so we can watch the same programs from the box on all TVs. My house is already wired up, so I'm sure this is pretty easy. From what I gather I need the box and then a booster, and then a 4 way splitter and then to connect the 4 coax cables from the splitter to the relvant rooms - fistly is this correct so far 9including the series in whihch to connect), and can anyone recommend a signal booster & 4 way splitter (believe the quality of these can make big difference) I can buy in Ireland?

Secondly - I have about 8 rooms wired up (new house so they did them all during building) how to I know which pre-wired coax serves which room, or do I just need to connect them all up one after the other and have a TV in the room to check if it goes on?

Thirdly - is there a way to change the channels remotely (ie. like the Sly eye?). I have an old sky box, would this work in a second room if we wanted to change the channels, or is the sly box incompatible with cable? If not, and I wanted to have this option, can I only use an N*L box?

Fourthly, if we wanted to watch different channels, would we have to buy another N*L box, or would any FTA box work connected via cable in another room?

Finally!!! - would all of this work with one of these special boxes added in as well (before the booster/splitter) - eg. s***v**w box.
