Avi and Mpg

    I have a problem when i try convert Avi or Mpg to other format then my pc frezzz. I have try to fix this files with lots of fix program and all make it unsuccesfull. it is not all avi files that give problemes. Hope any can help

    Are you sure that AVI is not corrupt? Usually AVI --> MPEG doesn't give any problem (except some audio sync problems due to the usage of VBR MP3 audio in the AVI or some 'missing audio' if you convert to MPEG an AVI which has AC3 sound).
    If that AVI is corrupt, there's no 'simple way' to save it. Sometimes, bt cutting the AVI with VirtualDub, I managed to 'avoid' the corrupt point losing some munutes of video around the otrruptiness pt, because there was only one. But for every AVI the 'answer' is different....

    And it's not surprising that 'all programs make it unsuccessful'.. you're forced to 'lose' all video around the corrupt point, and if you're lucky there's only one.
    Just open it with VirtualDub, keeping video=audio=Direct Stream Copy and save the movie a little beyond the 'freezing point' (before it you already should have your mpeg).
