I have made over 10 coasters now and am getting quite annoyed. I tried to burn an AVI file to Nero using the "Make your own DVD-video" option. I put the video in (David Cross: Let America Laugh, 700 mb) and create my menu. I then burn it. It goes fine for the entire process, no error messages and when it's done it says "Burn successfully completed." But when I try to watch it after about 30 minutes it cuts out and says the disc cannot be read. This has happened 10+ times and it's really frusterating me. Any ideas what is going on or perhaps a "kbps-burning-option-type-dooey" I can reset and get all the data? Any help would be appreciated. I will also add my process log: NT-SPTI used Nero API version: 7.0.0.0 Using interface version: 6.6.0.12 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\ Application: ahead\NeroVision Recorder: <HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B>Version: A101 - HA 1 TA 0 - 7.0.0.0 Adapter driver: <IDE> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ? === Scsi-Device-Map === CdRomPeripheral : SCSI DVD-ROM 1.0 VClone Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off DiskPeripheral : WDC WD400BB-75JHA0 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B atapi Port 2 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-252S atapi Port 2 ID 1 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : Generic DVD-ROM 1.0 d347prt Port 3 ID 0 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B D: CDRom0 SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-252S E: CDRom1 Generic DVD-ROM F: CDRom3 SCSI DVD-ROM H: CDRom2 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 83886080 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 765MB (784368kB) Free physical memory: 136MB (139940kB) Memory in use : 82 Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 24.5.2006 NeroAPI 3:31:43 PM #1 Phase 111 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 278 DVD-Video files sorted 3:31:45 PM #2 Text 0 File ThreadedTransfer.cpp, Line 525 ReadBuffer-Pipe got 262144KB of Memory 3:31:45 PM #3 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 124 Reader running 3:31:45 PM #4 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 113 Writer D: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B running 3:31:45 PM #5 ISO9660GEN -11 File Geniso.cpp, Line 3304 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 3:31:45 PM #6 ISO9660GEN -11 File Geniso.cpp, Line 3304 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 3:31:45 PM #7 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3301 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using DVD media 3:31:45 PM #8 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 277 Last possible write address on media: 2298495 (510:46.45, 4489MB) Last address to be written: 1837919 (408:25.44, 3589MB) 3:31:45 PM #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 289 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 3:31:45 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2568 Recorder: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4163B, Media type: DVD-R Disc Manufacturer: CMC MA - G. This may not be a good answer, but you appear to be using Nero 7. Did you have version 6 installed before? "Nero API version: 7.0.0.0" "Using interface version: 6.6.0.12" "Installed in: C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero 7\Core\"
Wait until someone else confirms, but you may need to go back and use a clean tool for Nero 6 and 7 and then reinstall 7. Just wait in case I am mistaken about the 6.6.0.12 possibly being a problem.
So, confirm this: Completely uninstall Nero 6 (I've still got it on my computer =\) then try 7? Also, would this even help the fact that the data doesn't burn to the disc past 30 minutes?
This is the first version of Nero7, it was buggy. I would uninstall, run these clean tools http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install this version 7.0.8.2 from here http://www.filehippo.com click on Nero 7.2.0.3 and then select 7.0.8.2 for a bug free version These need to be on, heres a guide to turn them on http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 These discs are crap, try some Verbatim or Sony (made in japan) Slow to 4X
The file on that filehippo says it is a trial. Should I like re-install Nero 7 and that trial will update it or something? Because I...er...paid for my Nero and would like to keep the full version. Or will the trial have full dvd-video burning options.
Hi robinstud Here's some suggeestions for you: Uninstall Nero 6 then run the clean tool: http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/us/Nero_6_CleanTool.html Uninstall Nero 7 & run the clean tool: http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html (good catch Saltgrass!) Update your nero to this version - 7.0.8.2. Here's a link: http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845 Update your firmware to help it w/ the read & write strategies of media. The latest version is A106. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1973 Turn DMA back on for this drive. Here's a link: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 82% of your memory is in use - so no multitasking and shut down any unnecessary process. Ouch - dump this and try some Verbatim or made in Japan Fuji, Sony or Maxell. The CMC cause many problems Playback and burning. Take this down to 4x - better media you can try and increase & see how it goes.
@binkie7, you will have to be a little quicker off the mark, Karen...we both got the same so I guess we're correct, Cheers. @MapleE [bold]If you insert your serial number it will be OK[/bold]
lol - yeah it gets kinda hard w/ the dog hanging over me & the lappy when he wants to play. I know excuses - excuses :0) @MapleE Let us know how to goes - good, bad or otherwise! Oh and btw Welcome to aD!

LOL Glad to hear our 'tricks' did the 'trick' for ya Hmmm tips - not Nero but burning in general - use the good stuff (media wise - posted above) and keep your firmware up to date. That goes a looong way Happy Burning!!
