.avi downloads into svcds (not vcd)

    have had lots of success with vcds, but none with svds. have used tmpgenc but then i cannot burn the svcds cdrwin wont let me burn the files. need direction or a guide to doing this. is the quality that much better??????????????

    not sure cd win can do svcd. It must have super video mode(mpeg2). I use nero or winon cd 5.0 to burn svcd's and the quality difference can be great if you set the bps on svcd to over 2k. Now, if you don't have a dvd player that can play svcd, then I would not waste the time because veiwing on the pc, divx is the best way to go.

    i have nero but how do you pick svcd instead of just vcd is there a difference? thankx for the help

    svcd is usually the next option below vcd and yes there is a difference svcd has better image quality.

    also, you can't burn svcd unless you pick super video mode in nero. If you encoded the video in mpeg 2, nero will tell you that it is not encoded correctly if you pick video mode in nero (instead of super video mode).

    In nero if you get the nero wizard at the startup, click the button "close wizard". Then you will have a selection of cd compilations tochoose from. Scroll down and you see Super Video CD. Click New. I didnt know this until recently! lol
