AVI file freezes when played on drive, plays OK on hard disk

    I have an LG GDR-8161B DVD-ROM. When I play back a DivX avi file from the drive, it freezes and hangs the system, while the same file plays OK when I copy it on to the hard disk and play. I have a Celeron 800/ 128 MB/ Win 98SE system. Have tried it with all media players but the problem continues.

    Any ideas?

    Is the drive using PIO mode?

    No, the drive is on DMA.
