avi file message

hi there i hope someone can help me out
i have a avi file that is just under 700mb but only plays first fw seconds then gives me a message saying i have not got the proper codec
it then opens my web page and links me to vlc player
i already have vlc player and it gives me this message if i play it in vlc or media player

my thoughts is that is has been altered to do this and i would like to know if there is any way round it such as take apart the avi remove the problem spyware or lik or whatever the cause is?
im pretty sure it isnt codec problem as i have ran this file on a few pcs and get the same result.

Are you sure it's an avi file and not malware that has been downloaded via a torrent?

 

it has the avi file extension it was gotten through a torrent tho.
so is it a recycle bin job?

 

Yes, trash it and be careful what you download...

 

The only client I trust is µTorrent and the only files I download are commented with positive remarks.
