I have an avi file identified by its' properties as a video clip but, when I run it, WMP opens indicating the musical note icon? and plays the sound only. What am I missing? PS: Should have tried this sooner but just tried VLC and the file ran as a video. Is this a WMP codec problem?
Windows media player usually doesn't have all the codecs to play all files especially video files. Depending on what version of windows you are using you can use one of these codec packs for WMP.
