I have three videos, apparently DIVX 5 dvd rips, will open only with VLC player but wont open in any other playing software and won't open in TMPGENC which i use to convert files. What's wrong with it?

No advanced features in the property windows.

Get and install a Divx codec.

i'm not stupid, i already have divx codec installed. Have done for about 10 years, it's just these few files just don't play. Anyway i used VLC to re-encode them to avi. Now they work fine, there was nothing wrong with my current divx codec.

It might have been helpful if you had used gspot or virtualdubmod
    to get detailed file information.
I didn't know you could use vlc that way...
    thanks for the info.
