I was wondering if anyone might be able to point me in the right direction here. I am looking for a good quality video joining program. There are several things that I require from this program. First it needs to be able to create an output file of a reasonable size. I have tried several programs already and have found that with 2 avi files of 700mb each the output file that is being returned after joining is a ridiculous size like 2.5GB. Second it needs to support batch conversion. I have quite a number of files that require joining - mostly movies that I need to have joined so it is one avi file rather than 2 seperate cd size files. I want to be able to queue up a bunch of these files before I go to work and have the program join them one after the other unattended. So to recap: 1. Video joiner that outputs a realistic sized single video file - ie: 2x 700mb files turn into 1x 1.8gb or smaller file. 2. Batch file joining s that I can queue up multiple joining operations and then leave the computer unattended for the program to do its work.
You either missed something in the settings or the software you used is junk, you should get an output file the size of the input parts added together. Your two 700MB joined should come out 1.4GB. You can use the awesome, free Avidemux!! Open Avidemux; - Leave the audio and video to copy. -Open the first part of the first movie. Whatever dialog comes up, say "yes". -Go to File->Append and open the second part of the movie(again, agree to whatever dialog comes up, like rebuilding index and stuff...) -Go back to file->Add to Job list. Give The job a name and click open to browse to where you want to save the joined movie. Give it a name, including the extension .avi(Avidemux will not do it for you; if you forget, just go and rename the file once done, add the extension) Repeat the process with all your movies. When done, go back to File->View Job List. Click Run All Jobs. Then, go to work, do your job as a good law abiding citizen, come back, have a cold beer and enjoy your non-disjointed movies! If you don't drink beer, buy me one! The joining only takes 2 to 3 minutes per movie. Cheers!
Awesome Job Dude. AVIDEMUX ROCKS !!! I was using ImToo video jiner, asvancedX video converter and one other program that I don't have the name of here with me right now and they were all taking at least 45 mins to an hour and a half to complete a video join operation and also most of the time returning files in excess of 1.8gb from a pair f 700mb starting files. AviDemux has returned me all the right file sizes and as you mentioned it is definitely much quicker than anything else I used. thanks so much for that. I have another question for you:
...you forgot the question)))...got a little overexcited!! The reason the other software took so long is because they were all re-encoding the video, which gives you nothing but picture quality loss and time wasted. A true joiner does the job in a few minutes, with no re-encoding, no quality loss. You can only do that if the two parts have the same resolution and such, if they really are two parts of a whole.
