avi file virus?

    Hello,
    Is it possible for viruses to be hidden in avi files? some played ok, some stopped partway through.....avg-free comes up clean, is there anything better i could use to be sure?

    Hey I have heard of this: embedding viruses in media files but have always though it a bit of a myth. My friend once told me he got a .mov file that redirected him to a mirror site and started downloading malware.

    As for your question perhaps download a free ware or trial virus scanner if you are particularly worried. (I've heard Kaspersky is good)

    i have something similar to this
    i play a avi file on my internal hard drive, works fine
    i play a avi file on my external hard drive, plays couple seconds and freezes(not the software the actual video file)

    tried all my usb connections still the same playing couple seconds, tried it in another pc and it works 100% perfect, but the problem is im not aloud on the pc it works 100% on

    edit: i dont use myspace
