hi there. i made a film in windows movie maker (with sound) and converted it into avi (with sound) in order to burn it onto a dvd. however, when i play the dvd it is mute. any ideas?
What did you use to Encode it to Mpeg2 for DVD??? Cuz it is Odvious that is were the Sound is Dissapearing from......
well, i used clicktodvd (by Sony) to convert avi into dvd. ...when i play the avi file in media player its with sound...when i check that very same avi file in AVIcodec it indicates new audio streams at all !?... so, it seems that the audio is lost when converting the wmv file into avi.
Well you can not be Looseing the Sound When converting to AVI because you said you can hear the audio when Playing the AVI file....Why not try useing a Good Mpeg encoder like Tmpgenc to encode the AVI file to Mpeg2 for DVD???
hi...i'm using tmpgenc now, but to convert the original wmv file into mpeg2. that works. however, i cant convert that avi file in tmpgenc cause it shows no audio streams even though i can play it with audio in any player. its weird. thanks for your help.
I've seen posts on a Vaio related message board that probably explain what your problem is. According to one of the posters there, the problem is that Movie Maker saves the AVI as Type I DV, which Click 2 DVD doesn't support. I'm not sure, but I don't think TMPGEnc supports it either. I think the Canopus DV File Converter can change it to Type II: ftp://ftp.canopus.com/pub/drivers/misc/Canopus_DV_File_Converter.exe
thanks...thats valuable information. though now i'm using tmpgenc for the wmv file and it works fine.
trebax : The reason why Tmpgenc doesn"t see the audio in your AVI files is that the audio is Probably Compressed to Mp3 or some other Compression and Tmpgenc doesn"t like Compressed audio in it"s Source files so you will have to decompress the audio in your AVI file or Extract the audio to Wav format and then useing the Wav file as the Audio Source in Tmpgenc....You can use Virtual-Dub to Extract the audio to Wav or if you want you can PM me with your e-mail address and I can send you a simple Tool that will Decompress the audio in the AVI file....Cheers
