I have tried playing avi files from a DVD+R disc. I have never had any problems before. But for some reason the file stops suddenly, or if it's more than one file on the disc it will automatically skip to the next one in the middle of playback. I have tried using Media Player Classic,Windows Media Player 11 and VLC Media Player. Will appreciate any response on what the problem could be, or any solutions thank you.
The problem could be, a disk that is getting difficult to read, for one reason or another. Download cd/dvd speed and run a scandisk and disk quality check. http://www.cdspeed2000.com/
i have a simular problem, except im converting avi's using dvd X copy to make it into a dvd movie, and ive been doing this for a while. recently i noticed that alot of the movies skip, and freeze for a second or two. its so random. i thought it was maybe because i was running other programs while converting or burning but i tried closing all apps and i still have the problem.
I downloaded cd/dvd speed and i think you might be right about disk getting unreadable. About 2min. into the check it stopped and said "Error Unrecovered Read Error (031100)
